My Wedding Photography Investment

Photography has always been very important to me, even before I stepped into the wedding photography business. I know in a world where we can take our own photos and edit them to our liking, wedding photography can seem unnecessary, but to me for our big day, it was everything! So much so that I literally picked our wedding date based on the LAST day our photographer had available.. I know, crazy.

Before we got engaged, I knew exactly who I wanted to photograph my wedding. I fell in love with her style, how she went about capturing her photos and her personality. Let's be real, making sure you have a photographer you can connect with and actually want to be around on one of the most hectic days of your life is VERY important. The last thing you want is someone following you around who drives you crazy and doesn't connect with you.

Connection is a big deal when picking your wedding photographer, but another big part is pricing or how I like to think of it better is, your investment in something that you will look at and cherish for the rest of your life. I'll be honest, I've had many couples reach out and find my investment to be too much and question me, and in the end they're my no customer. I don't want to work with people who don't see my work as something I take pride in and want to give them the best. I don't want to just take a photo and move onto the next thing, I want to capture a moment of time, a very important moment of time, that a couple will look back on every year, display proudly in their home and truly cherish. I truly cherish our wedding photos and I knew that if I wanted the best photos then I was going to have to do a little extra saving to make that happen. I love our wedding photos and have them displayed all over our house, after four years! You'd think I'd get sick of looking at him, I mean them... ;) I've even had people come into our home and say, " You have a lot of wedding photos up" and they ask if that's the married thing to do. Haha! It's not, I mean maybe it is I have no idea, but four years later I'm still happy with the quality, moments captured and experience that we had. Had I been scared of the investment that I had to make in hiring our photographer and went with someone else, I don't know that I would be. So don't look at the price and immediately say no, talk with the photographer and listen for their true passion for what they do and how much heart they put into their work. THEN make your decision about the investment you want to make.

In the end, we have lots of photos taken by friends and family in attendance, as will you, but the ones that mean the most, that I constantly look back on, are the ones our photographer took. The one who has an eye for capturing all the little moments and the one who I would trust ten times over to capture one of the most important days of my life.
