5 Ways to display your plants other than a typical pot

Is anyone else like me thinking, where can I put all of my plants? What do I put all of my plants in? My floor only has so much space for pots before it’s like ok, ok, there’s too many. So lets talk about other ways you can sneak your plants into your decor!

1. Kokedama aka moss ball (just did a whole post on this here!)

You can hang your kokedama, put your kokedama on a pedestal or tray, they’re fun on your counter or in the middle of your table, anywhere! Just a cute alternative to a normal pot.

2. Mounted

You can basically do what we did with the kokedama, but just mounted on wood. I did this with my staghorn Fern, minus the dirt. I bought this little guy because he looked really sad (I have a tendency to buy the sad looking plants in hopes to revive them) and he's doing MUCH better. Maybe I'll do a write up of how this is done, it's very easy and can add dimension to a gallery wall or entry way.

3. Fishtank

If you have a fish you can put your plants (some) in with them! I've seen monsteras in fish tanks, pothos, philodendrons (what I have in mine). Just one more way you can add a plant in your life, ha!

Plants love the fish water because it's fertilizing them and fish love the plants, because they can prune the roots of the plants for “food”. I know both my plant and fish are GROWING due to the combination. The plant can also kind of tell you when the water needs changed. If your water is getting dirty your leaves will start to yellow as if they're being overwatered. Means it's time to clean the tank!

Note, you'll want to make sure you’re watching the roots and not allowing the plant to overtake the fishes area.

4. Glass

Basically what the above is minus the fish.. Did you know that your plants can survive in water alone? After awhile you'll need to start fertilizing them will liquid fertilizer, but they can survive!

5. Antique brass bowl or container

I love looking for old brass bowls or containers for my plants. The brass doesn’t hurt the plant like copper does, so you're all good to go thrifting and find all the pretty brass containers!

And there you have it, five ways to style your plants other than the everyday pot!

Fun tip, turn a lamp shade upside down, cut the center supports, and use it as a pot cover or as a plant stand! You can even flip a normal plant stand over and make it a pot cover!
